Blog Post #9

Hey guys! In celebration of Valentine's Day, which actually was last week (Sorry, I'm late), I'm going to try and draw a rose,. So we'll see how well this goes.

And here is my recreation:

I don't think it's that bad. I was drawing this on a desk at school and it gave the petals sort of like a bumpy shading, which I think is a really cool effect. I'm not sure about the shading though, I think I could've done some hatching or cross hatching instead of just regular shading, but this was pretty difficult. Not bad, I think. If you guys have any tips for me, let me know!

See you guys next time!

Blog Post #8

Hey guys! I wanted to draw something really nostalgic today. I used to live by the sea an I would always see the sunset over the water, so that's what I plan to draw today.

And here is my recreation:

This was a little disappointing. I keep running into this problem where whenever I shade, when I move onto the next area, it's darker on the edges where I first begun. Does that make sense? I'm not sure. I used this really cool technique though; to make the sunset patch on the water lighter, I erased a little bit of it to give it that random sparkle look, it was a really cool idea! I was a bit rushed for time on this one and I definitely think I should've worked on it a little harder. I'm not discouraged though, in fact, I want to try even harder now!

See you guys next time!
